Polar Express PJ Party!

One of the ways I love celebrating Christmas in second grade is by having a Polar Express PJ Party! Every one came dressed in their cutest PJs and brought their blankets, pillows and favorite stuffed animal. Our hosts and hostesses for our party brought donuts and milk for us to munch on while we watched The Polar Express together. We moved all the desks to the side and spread out all our blankets on the floor to lay on while we watched the movie. Afterwards we had fun playing board games and just relaxing in our jammies at school. :)

James and The Giant Peach Party!!

For Literature, this semester, I read James and The Giant Peach out loud to the class. It's a classic story written by Roald Dahl about a young boy whose life changes for the better when he gets trapped inside a peach. :) To celebrate finishing the book, our class had a "Peach Party"! Everyone was encouraged to bring in something "peachy" to eat as we watched the Disney movie of James and The Giant Peach. Boy! Did we ever have a peach feast! We had homemade peach cobbler, peach pie, peaches and cream, peach yogurt, peach jello, peach smoothies, peach juice, peach fruit cups and peach rings! :) YUM! I was proud of everyone for trying and tasting a little bit of every thing! :)

Buddy The Elf!

Buddy the Elf came to visit our class from the North Pole during the holiday season. He was keeping a close eye on some certain cutie patootie second graders and reporting back to Santa each night on whether they were naughty or nice. :) Buddy would surprise us each morning by hiding in a new spot in our classroom. He'd pick a high and lofty spot to spy from and make his observations through out the day.

It became a game each morning before school to see who would be the first to spot Buddy in his new hiding place. The picture below shows what I would see each morning as I sat at my desk. :) Do I have the best job in the world or what???!!! :) :) :)

Catching Up!

I thought these pictures were too much fun to pass up. So I am a little late but in my opinion...better than never! :) I LOVE Christmas and love sharing the season with my students. It's always a magical, sweet and fun time celebrating Christmas with a bunch of excited kiddos. One of my favorite Christmas traditions at Sonrise is the wrapping of the desks. :) It makes the whole class feel festive and makes doing that math work a little more fun!

Library Friends

These cute little critters above are holding Arthur and Clifford from our school library. The cuddly friends are given to classes who are on their best behavior when visiting the library. YAY!! Our class has been doing GREAT in the library! Woo! Hoo! We've enjoyed having Arthur, Clifford and Pigeon in our class! They rotate around the class by sitting on a different students desk each day. :)

Because his teacher said it was a piece of cake!!!!

This funny joke brought to you by this cutie patootie above!!! :)
